Explanation for the Dag Drags Sheep Dash
1. From 3pm – Enter through Gate 2. Parking up near shearing shed and sheep pavilion, then patrons walk down to Betting area.
2. If required, direct patrons to the betting area behind the Grandstand.
3. From 3.30pm – explanation of the Sheep Dash process
a. 6 sheep per race
b. Each sheep per race to be auctioned to the highest bidder (only for the race – not to take home)
i. Auction surplus to go to Wellington Rotary to be donated to a nominated registered charity.
c. $5.00 and $10.00 sweeps to be run.
i. $5.00 sweeps: 1st Prize $15.00; 2nd Prize $10.00; 3rd Prize $5.00
ii. $10.00 sweeps: 1st Prize $30.00; 2nd Prize $20.00; 3rd Prize $10.00
iii. All money to be returned to punters in prizes.
4. First race at 4pm
5. 4 races in total, approximately 40min part to allow time for auction and sweeps.
6. Bar in operation, but no alcohol permitted outside designated area.
7. Courtesy bus in operation. First drop-off leaving at 5pm, stopping at the RSL for Caribe dance performance from 7pm. $30.00 entry for those with wristbands already.
Then stopping at the Grand Hotel.
8. Courtesy bus every half hour. Last bus 7.00pm!
